Privacy

What the observatory stores, why, and what it never does.

Version 0.1, October 2026.

What we store

  • Usage events. When you browse the observatory we record the page path, the record you opened (a tool, a study, a country), the interface language and a daily rotating hash computed from your network address and browser signature. The hash lets us count distinct visitors for a day; it cannot be reversed and changes every day. We honour the Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals.
  • Assistant questions. Questions asked to the assistant and the answers given are stored so that curators can see what the observatory fails to answer. Do not include personal information in a question.
  • Contributions. A contribution stores what you typed: the proposal itself and, if you provided them, your name, e-mail address and organisation, so that a curator can come back to you. Approved study proposals become public records; your contact details never do.
  • Accounts. If you create an account we store your e-mail address, a password hash (argon2) or the fact that you sign in by e-mail link, your name and organisation, and your sessions.

What we do not do

No advertising, no third-party analytics, no tracking cookies. The only cookie is the session cookie of signed-in users.

Your rights

You can ask for your account and contributions to be deleted or corrected by writing to the address on the contact page. The data is hosted in the European Union on the infrastructure described on the legal notice.
